Wedge Street Piazza
Wedge Street Piazza was completed in 2011 by Outlines Landscape Architecture. The original design featured a large kiosk which has never been realised. Schored was engaged by Wyndham Council for concept design services to resolve this area as well as conceiving solutions to further activate the public space.
Our objective was to cohesively address two issues; how do we further activate the site and what would potential interventions look like. As the piazza is located adjacent to Werribee River, Wyndham Park and across the road from the Werribee public library the obvious activation solution was through children and their adult companions. Children are drawn into the site to play with the kid’s folly/sculptural climbing frame as well as investigating the partially transparent store room folly. The existing piazza has strong polygon geometries and these have been referenced and enhanced through the design.
We acknowledge the Traditional Owners of Country throughout Australia and their continuing connection to ancestors, country and community.
We pay our respects to their Elders both past and present and to their enduring cultures.
