The Nest is a modular housing project for a 2-bedroom home. There are three modules (living, sleeping and sleep) that configure differently according to land constraints and site orientation. The pilot project is in Shepparton in central Victoria and is for three homes for young mothers and their children. The project is a partnership with housing provider Women’s Property Initiatives and service provider The Bridge.

This design configures the three carports centrally on the site, adjacent to shared open space so that when cars are removed the area is a hardscape play space extension to the soft play zone for children. To entertain, engage and amuse young kids, the planting palette is full of different foliage textures and colourful flowers. For the mums there are productive plants such as rosemary, lemons and apples to assist with cooking skills and family budgets.
