Heidelberg Heights SDA
This new Specialist
Disability Accommodation (SDA) project in Heidelberg Heights has relocate five
residents less than 100m from their current dwelling so they can remain in the
community they love, are familiar with and where they have long established and
sustaining connections.
The development is for
three units, two 2-bedroom dwellings and one 1-bedroom (and 2 overnight onsite accommodation). Access to the home’s
front doors is along the western boundary under a fire and weatherproof canopy.
Three of the residents are deafblind so the material and colour palette have
been chosen very carefully. High contrast colours (black on white) and textures
(smooth and rough) are used to assist these residents to way find through the
development.
Landscaping elements and
plant choices have also been selected to assist residents in orientating
themselves. Perfumed plants have been used at entrances and contrasting foliage
is used in the courtyard spaces to identify different areas through touch.
We acknowledge the Traditional Owners of Country throughout Australia and their continuing connection to ancestors, country and community.
We pay our respects to their Elders both past and present and to their enduring cultures.
